Well, here we are at the second to last game. Time is running
out on a win this year. We were hoping to go out on a two game winning streak,
but it wasn't meant to be. We held on to the football for the majority of the
first half, but still trailed 14-0 after two quarters. We had an interception
returned for a touchdown, and we gave up another on a short field. Overall our
defense didn't play bad, but we couldn't get any breaks on offense. We moved the
ball well between the 20's, but then stalled.
The second half was pretty much more of the same. We finally
managed an offensive touchdown, but the extra point was no good. We gave up a
couple of touchdown runs as well, but they came up the middle this time instead
of our usual outside runs that we seem so fond of giving up. Anyway, the end
result was a 6-26 loss. At the time I thought it was our worst loss of the year,
but after further reflection it wasn't as bad as I had thought. I do know that I
was losing my voice from yelling at the kids so much! One more try next week for
that elusive "W".
Tyler actually played a pretty good game on
a personal level. He made a couple of tackles, dove on a loose ball, and played
well at his new guard position on offense, knocking some people on their behinds
from both sides of the ball.
Just a reminder, Tyler is #53 this season. I am also an
assistant coach, so thank Tara for the pictures!
