UM Spring Game

Home Up UM Spring Game - Page 2

We woke up bright and early in the morning (well, it wasn't really bright out yet, and we weren't even completely awake) to make the drive down to Ann Arbor to attend the University of Michigan's Spring Game. We arrived a little after 8:00am to get in line for the tour of the locker room. It took us over an hour to get inside, but to me it was worth it. Aside from being rushed through and not being able to take the pictures I would have liked, it was pretty cool to see inside. It wasn't nearly as big as I thought it would be, though. After our walk through the locker room we headed inside the stadium to watch the alumni flag football game. It was pretty neat to see some of the former players back on the field again. After the alumni game was finished, we were treated to the current teams final spring practice. We saw some nice plays offensively, and hopefully with some more practice in the fall they can improve upon last years dismal record.

After the practice was over, we headed to the M-Den to see what was available for purchase (Tara found a nice sweatshirt on sale) before heading out of town. On our way home we ate lunch at Red Robin, at my request. After eating too many fries, we headed home to relax for the remainder of our day.

University of Michigan Spring Game - 04-11-2009

Michigan Stadium as seen from Ann Arbor Pioneer High School. You can see the renovation going on clearly from here.

A couple of Michigan flags flying proudly over a motor home tailgating in the parking lot.

Tyler and Drew playing on the hill beside Crisler Arena while the crowd waiting to get into the locker room winds down the street in the background.

The training room inside the stadium. I must apologize for the blurriness of the inside pictures - we were being rushed through and weren't given much time to get any quality shots.

Several lockers in the locker room with the big "M" on the floor.

Some more pictures of the locker room, with the schedule for players to hit the field. I didn't notice at the time, but the pads above the sign have straps that form an "M".

The door exiting the locker room. "Show No Mercy"

The mural on the wall outside the locker room. The would be sign before entering the tunnel to the stadium.

The doorway to the tunnel. "Hold The Rope"

The tunnel to the field. This is where the players run onto the field to the M Club banner before each game.

A view of Crisler Arena from outside the tunnel entrance.

Michigan Stadium as seen from the inside. The original press box is in the middle of the picture with the new addition towering above it.

The new addition behind our seating section.

The Michigan Stadium scoreboard. My favorite part about the stadium? No advertising anywhere!

Tyler, Samantha, Drew, Tara, and Jayden sitting on the cold bleachers.

Another picture of the family. It is tough to get the kids to look in the same direction at the same time.

Another view across the field towards the new addition. I am hoping that if the old press box goes that the Michigan Stadium sign moves atop the new section behind it.

The alumni teams on the field before their game.

Frank Beckman and Jim Brandstatter were the announcers for the alumni game.

Anthony Thomas, the A-Train, playing catch with one of his kids on the field before the game.
