Home Up

We drove off to see the manatee swimming in the water at the Tampa Electric Manatee Viewing Center. I estimated between 50-100 manatee floating gently, and we were even able to see a couple of rays swimming along the pier.

We saw this bird standing in the ditch along the road on our way into the viewing center.

The smoke stacks at the Big Bend power station.

The manatees in the water near the Big Bend power station.

A closer look at the manatees swimming gently in the water.

Another look at the manatee's swimming in front of the power station.

The nose of a manatee poking out of the water.

The view from the end of the 900' pier.

A sign warning boaters of the possible presence of manatees in the water.

A couple of homes that overlook the Gulf of Mexico and the power station. Talk about conflicting views!

Look closely and you can see a ray swimming through the water.

Sticking with my habit of waiting until the end of our stay, I finally remembered to take pictures of the inside of the condo that we stayed in this week.

The sofa. This is where Tyler and Sam slept most of the time.

The TV sat next to the bar/kitchen area.

...and the bathroom.
