Game 10

Home Up

The kids were allowed a brief period of rest and to get some water before resuming play for the second game of the double-header on June 5th. Unfortunately not many kids were able to stick around for the late game, since it started about 3 hours later than planned. That gave other kids an opportunity to fill in the vacant spots on the roster - Drew played in the outfield and got a chance to bat, and a couple of the other kids on the teams had siblings play as well (Ben's brother Nick went 3 for 3 with an RBI, for example). With only 6 regular players, the team struggled as one would expect. Samantha showed what playing 3 games in a matter of a few hours can do, as she had a rough game batting, striking out multiple times. She did have a strong game in the field, however, catching a fly ball and catching a throw to force a runner out, all while playing third base. For her efforts, she was awarded today's game ball. Drew was also given a game ball for helping the team out when they were short handed. Great job guys! We are very proud of you both!

Samantha's Baseball - Game 10

Samantha was ready to get the runner out at third if only the ball had come her way.

Sammie got an opportunity to play pitcher today.

Another shot of Sam on the pitchers mound, practicing her throwing motion.

Tyler took advantage of the lack of players' parents to coach first base.

Tyler gave the kids a pep talk when they got on base. Here it was Sam's turn.

Drew even got a chance to play today. Here he is batting for the first time.
Unfortunately for Drew he struck out in his only chance to hit.
Sam played first base a little later in the game and Drew backed her up in the outfield.
Sam on first base once again.
Sam struggled at the plate during the second game of today's double header. Here she is swinging at a pitch.
