August 26th

Home Up

Samantha's soccer team, the La Forza White Ice, was going to be playing in a tournament during the weekend of August 26th to the 28th. Tara & I thought that this would be a good opportunity for us to get in one last camping trip, since I screwed up the last one so bad and we wouldn't be able to participate in our annual Labor Day Bridge Walk weekend due to a wedding that weekend. We chose to stay at the Brighton Recreation Area, which is a state campground. Overall it seemed to be very nice, although the sites were very shallow and much more open that the ones we typically get when we camp at the state campground in Bay City. On a positive note, the bathrooms were pretty much the same - meaning the same layout, and they were probably remodeled about the same timeframe.

I have decided to provide a link to the reason we were here, Sam's soccer games, instead of posting the pictures here and on her soccer page. You can find the pictures on her La Forza page. Here is the link for Game 1, which took place today, August 26th. In the meantime, here are some pictures of the chalk art the kids created after we returned to the campground after her game, as well as one of our campsite at night. Enjoy!

Brighton Recreation Area

Tyler drew this bulldog on the sidewalk. Little did he know that Brighton's school mascot is a bulldog...

Samantha made this very colorful bird.

Drew made a top down view of a truck and a camper. This photograph shows his unfinished vision, as he added more to it later.

Tyler drew this little birdie.

Tyler was in the mood to quote Kid Rock...

Jayden posing with the rainbow that she drew across the sidewalk.

Aside from the misspelling, nobody can say that they weren't fairly warned by Tyler about what lay ahead of them...

Sam's hopscotch board.

Any time our family camps, this sign becomes appropriate.

Another fair warning for passers-by.

Jay posing with her picture of a "box in a box!"

A look back at Drew's finished drawing. The truck is facing the grass, while his camper is towards his toes.

Tyler also drew this rendition of Jason from the Friday the 13th movies.

A late night look at our campsite, before the toys were put away for the night.
