Detroit Pistons Practice

Home Up

On December 18th the Detroit Pistons hosted an open practice/scrimmage as a way to welcome back fans and to stir interest in the team after a tough losing season and the summer long lockout. I decided to take the kids down for a look at the new team. We arrived about 15 minutes early, allowing us some time to wander through the team store before they opened the gates. Once the time came for the fans to be let in, we made our way through security. We were also handed a voucher for a free hot dog and soda - can't complain about free food, right? We found a seat in the lower bowl near the mid-court line and settled in to watch the team go through some drills. It was at this time that the kids spotted their Aunt Amy (Tara's youngest sister) wandering around with her Palace Patrol coworkers. After Tyler hollered for her she spotted us in the crowd and came to talk to us for a while. After she left we watched the rest of the drills and the team scrimmage before making our way back to the car. On our way out Tyler found another voucher for free food, which he graciously shared with his siblings. Although I have my doubts about how well this team will perform this year, we had a fun time watching them practice. Plus... the price was right!

Tyler also carried a camera around with him as he wandered around, giving him the opportunity to take pictures of his favorite players.
