Game 1

Home Up

The 7th grade football season officially got underway on a warm, sunny Wednesday afternoon on September 21st. While Tyler didn't see as much of the field as he would have hoped for, he managed to give it his all when he was out there and did his best to support the team when he wasn't. Tyler only got two plays in on offense today, both at tight end, before his teammate fumbled the ball, resulting in a turnover. While the score was 12-0 at that point, things quickly turned around after that, as a touchdown by the Swartz Creek Dragons and an ill advised 4th down attempt by the Bronchos gave the Dragons back the ball back with great field position. This led to the Bronchos being in a 14-12 hole moments later. Because of how close things remained throughout the game, the second units didn't see much playing time on either offense or defense. Thankfully the boys managed to make a late drive that resulted in a touchdown and were able to hold the Dragons one last time, securing an 18-14 victory in their first game of the year. Let's hope for many more victories - although not all nail-biters like today!

Just a reminder, look for #35 on the field to see Tyler, who was also the only player sporting black socks and all red shoes today, making him easier to spot. I was unable to take many action shots, because when Tyler did play he was stationed on the offensive line on the opposite side of the field from our spot in the bleachers, thus remaining invisible to us during his two plays.

The final score, a come from behind 18-14 victory for the home team!

The entire team went nuts when the clock ran out on today's game.
