I did something this Sunday that I had never done before
in my athletic parenting career: I forgot a scheduled game. The entire family
had ran some errands during the day before returning home. Tara ran to the
grocery store to pick up a few items for dinner. I sat down to the computer to
make sure that our calendar was up to date when I saw that Samantha had a soccer
game scheduled. For that exact moment. In fact, the clock read 4:14pm when I saw
the game on the calendar, and it had already started at 4:00pm. I called for Sam
to get her uniform on and I made the drive to the soccer fields with her in
record time. We arrived at 4:35pm, just as the second half was getting under
way. Sam played a lot in the second half, but by the time we arrived the game
was pretty much in hand. During the time that Sam played the game was played to
a 1-1 tie, but the La Forza girls had already jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the
first half, so they had things on cruise control at that point. The 6-1 victory
put the girls at 3-0 at this point, and in first place in their division. Great
job girls!
