October 31st, 2013
For the first time since 2004, we did not go to Dwayne &
Erica's house for our Halloween festivities. Their recent move to the sunny,
warm weather of Florida (I'm so jealous!) necessitated our finding of a new
trick-or-treating location for 2013. We wound up getting an invite from some of
our friends to join them in their subdivision in town, so we happily accepted.
We arrived at their home shortly after 5:00pm, where we ate pizza for dinner
before getting the kids costumes on. Before we knew it, the time had come to
head out on the candy hunting expedition! Samantha wound up going off on her own
with two of her friends from school, and I didn't even get a picture of her in
her homemade bacon costume! Tyler, Drew, and Jay stayed with the group, but
unfortunately the group spread out quiet a bit throughout the night. In addition
to kids being everywhere (at least each group had an adult or two walking with
them... it wasn't as if we let them roam randomly all over), the weather was
highly uncooperative today - it rained nonstop the entire day, and the closest
we got to a break in the rain was a steady mist falling from the sky. The kids
were mostly undeterred through, and they managed to hit virtually every house in
the subdivision. In fact, Jayden and her friend Jessica were the last two of our
group of trick-or-treaters to return home! Hitting all of those houses also
meant that they got lots of candy too! All in all, everyone had a great time,
but we sure did miss going out with our family! Miss you guys!

Here is the group of trick-or-treaters lined up before heading
out for the night. Tyler was a gumball machine (I think... nobody
was really certain what his last second costume was supposed to be).
Jayden is barely visible, but she was Rapunzel from the movie
"Tangled". Drew was a police officer, and he is attempting to club
his military counterpart in this photo.

This was supposed to be the kids silly photo, but as you can
tell only the younger ones wanted to participate in that fun photo.

Here are the kids sorting and trading their candy after
returning to the home base for the evening.
