Semifinals

May 12th, 2013

Today the La Forza girls would be facing a Mid-MI Gators team that had scored 14 goals in their previous two games, so expectations were set appropriately going in to the start of the match. Sam got the nod in the field at the start of today's game, and like her teammates she played strong and aggressive throughout. The game turned out to be a very good one, with the action going back and forth. While the team managed to keep the score low, they couldn't quite get the all-important goal when they needed it. While they managed to get one past the other team's keeper, they also gave up a bad pass for the easy go-ahead goal, putting our goalie in a position where there was little she could do to stop it. The tournament ended for the girls with the 2-1 loss. Regardless, I thought that they made huge strides over the weekend, and I can only hope that they manage to remember this and keep up this style of play...

M.I.T. Semifinals - at Mid-MI Gators - White

Sam started this game in the field. Once again it was cold and windy (very, very windy). Brr!

Sam challenging her opponent for the ball.

Sam managed to break up this play by knocking the ball away from the opposing players.

Sam went deep into her end to help her goalie out on defense.

Sam getting ready to make a move past the oncoming player.

Sam played goal in the second half of today's game.

Sam kicking the ball away as it rolled to her...

...and then watching it sail down the field.

Sam watching the action take place off to her left.

Sam kicking the ball away once again.

Sam took a hit from the opposing player, but she managed to keep the ball from her net through it all.
