    This was a game between two teams that have no business being in the same division. I'm not sure who selects what division a team ends up in, but if I'm correct in assuming that it is up to the coaches to give an honest assessment of their team and choose their own, I'm thinking that the Saginaw team opted for a lower division in an effort to collect a championship against lesser competition rather than by trying to challenge themselves by playing against teams of equal talent. I could be wrong on this (especially if some other factor determines the division level), but I doubt it.

    Today's game started out ugly and stayed that way. Drew and his Lapeer Storm teammates were down 10-0 at the end of the first period thanks to a never-ending onslaught of players shooting the puck at the net. It was obvious from the opening minutes that we were out matched, but nothing was done about that from a coaching perspective on the Saginaw end. They continued to fire away, hitting every corner of the net until the game ended in a 22-0 blowout score. Supposedly they told their kids to pass 2 or 3 times before shooting, but in reality it was either shoot or pass once and shoot every time down the ice. I think the Storm players settled down some later in the game, and they did a decent job, but the constant scoring of goals took a toll on them emotionally, and you could see it as the game wound down as they weren't as quick to the puck and they lacked a certain jump in their skating which seemed to be there at the start today.

    Needless to say, I wasn't too happy about the proceedings on the ice. I understand that if you don't want to be scored upon that you should stop the other team from scoring and all that, but these are 8 and 9 year old kids who are learning to play the game. Show some respect for your opponent, teach your kids a lesson, and make the world a better place one small act at a time.
