Meet 4

Home Up

May 12th, 2015

I had every intention of attending Tyler's track meet today as it was the only event on the calendar. Unfortunately for me a bad habit crept back into my life that prevented me from attending. It started innocently enough - I was closing on the sale of our house today, and leaving from there and going to the school for the meet. Except nothing ever goes that smoothly for me... when I walked out of the office with my papers in hand I had a sudden sensation that I didn't have everything with me. All the papers were there - I had just gone through them. My wallet and drivers license were in my pocket. So was my money. Except one of my pockets was empty, and that wasn't right. A quick peek through the window of the Enclave confirmed by worst fears... I had locked the keys in the car. Brilliant!

Because of all of my own personal drama, I missed out on Tyler's accomplishments. During today's meet he cleared 5'-4" in the high jump and attempted the long jump for the first time. When I asked him how he did he said "I PR'd every time I jumped" (PR being a Personal Record). I kind of assumed that would be the case since it was his very first try and he couldn't help but set his own record. Anyway, funny kid. He did end up with a long jump of 16'-0" today. Great job on your accomplishments Tyler!

Track & Field Meet - vs. Linden High School and Swart Creek High School

Tyler with his prerun-up lean back...

...followed by his run-up to the bar...

...and the plant...

...and the jump...

...then the lean...

...with the feet up...

...and the landing on the mat with a clean jump.

Tyler jumping over the next height level.

Tyler running up for another attempt...

...before planting his foot...

...and arching over the bar...

...but not getting his feet up high enough.

Tyler almost to the bar for another attempt...

...and his jump...

...while trying to get his feet out of the way...

...before hitting the mat...

...and crashing down in with another successful clearance.

Tyler going for the jump at 5'-6"...

...and catching the bar with his heel...

...and bringing the bar down as he lands on the mat.
