    This morning's event brought the 58th annual CANUSA games to a close after a great weekend of competition and bonding between players and countries. The closing ceremony was a far less formal event than the opening ceremony two days earlier. The athletes and parents mingled together while thanks were made and trophies were handed out. While the U10 ice hockey team struggled, in the end the Americans beat the Canadians in a close competition. Once the presentations were over the kids were free to head back to the buses for the long ride home or, as Drew did with me, ride home with a parent.

    When Tara & I brought up the possibility of playing in the CANUSA Games with Drew, he was excited about the chance. When he found out about the billet requirement (staying with a Canadian player's family for the weekend), he suddenly became not so sure about the whole thing. He eventually decided that it would be worth doing, and when it was all over he was extremely glad that he did! He was thrilled to find out that staying with another hockey player named Drew brought along a lot of similarities between the two - though he did noticed that his family said "Eh" a lot, eh? The two Drew's went go-carting, to the driving range (twice!), to hockey stores, and out to eat together during their time together. This truly was a once in a lifetime opportunity that Drew will never forget!
