Game 1

Home Up

August 7th, 2015

Only a few hours after the opening ceremony concluded the boys were back together, this time at the Mohawk 4 Ice Centre for their first of two games this weekend. Although the outcome of today's game could probably have been predicted, the kids from Flint were determined to give it their all in this contest. It didn't take long for the Canadians to take command of the game though, and they cruised to an easy 14-0 victory that could have been worse had the Canadian coaches not pulled their team back a bit. Drew's Canadian counterpart started in goal today, and didn't have to face many shots. The Flint goalie (Drew's Lapeer Storm teammate) faced a lot of shots, and despite allowing 14 goals actually played a very good game overall, making several impressive saves.

After the game the majority of each team, the Americans and Canadians, went to dinner at Kelsey's restaurant. It was nice to see all of the kids sitting together, sharing stories, and getting along well. The parents did the same, comparing the differences in the teams and the culture in which they were formed.
