    After struggling to a 1-0 victory in their first game of the Nike Classic Cup tournament against a team they had beaten handily in their previous matchup, the Michigan Impact girls returned to the field again today, this time to face off against the local team - the Chicago Empire. This turned out to be a far tougher game, as this team presented a far greater challenge. Although the Impact girls had their moments on offense, and didn't play terribly overall on defense, things were not going their way tonight. The Chicago team had faster players who seemed to be more focused right from the opening kick, while it took a while for the Impact girls to get into the action. Unfortunately only one team was able to find the back of the net, and it wasn't the team that we were hoping for... the Impact team went from first place in the tournament after one game to needing a victory in game 3 in order to reach the finals by losing this game by a 2-0 score tonight.
