Drew's Lapeer Storm played in the consolation game of the
Fall Colours tournament today, finally getting a chance to play in the home of
the Michigan Wolverines hockey team, Yost Ice Arena. Below is a few of the
pictures from inside the arena while we waited for the teams to hit the ice...

Slightly before 7:00am the Lapeer Storm
hockey team hit the ice for the consolation game of the Fall Colours tournament.
This game wound up being a rematch of their third game of the tournament,
against the St. Jude Knights, the team from Illinois. The previous contest
between these two teams wound up with the Storm suffering a 6-3 defeat,
including a goal by Drew and an empty netter from the Knights. This morning's
game ended up being a much different contest, as the two teams played a tight
game throughout the entire game. In fact, the entire first period was scoreless,
as both teams played tough defense and got some excellent goaltending. The Storm
team got on the board first, with Drew finding a loose puck in front of the goal
and roofing it to put the Storm up 1-0. Two minutes later the Knights countered
with a power-play goal, knotting the game at a goal apiece. The Storm found
themselves shorthanded once again later in the period, but this time they found
themselves the aggressors, scoring a short-handed goal to take a 2-1 lead into
the second intermission. The third period was another close one, as the two
teams traded chances. It was the Knights who finally capitalized midway through.
Neither team could capitalize on their remaining chances, and the game ended
with a 2-2 tie. While we would have preferred a victory, the team was happy to
suffer another defeat and play this team much closer in their rematch.
