Tonight's game was another tough one for the Holly team. It
wasn't so much that they were badly outplayed as in their previous
contest, but their slow start and a couple of mistakes doomed them
early. It started with two quick Lakeland girls that appeared to
catch the Holly girls napping. The third goal of the half came early
too, but was unfortunate in that the shot went in off a Holly girl
after bouncing off the post. All three goals came in the first 11
minutes of game action. Holly settled down at that point, keeping
Lakeland off the board for the remaining 29 minutes of play. The
half ended with the same 3-0 score. The second half was another
slow start for Holly, as a shot found it's way behind the keeper not
even two minutes in. It took a while before another goal was scored,
but once again it was Lakeland finding the net. Once again this one
was preventable, as the keeper made the initial save but bobble it
and lost it into the net. Holly tried to mount a comeback, but
couldn't get one past the Lakeland keeper.
Samantha's night ended early today, as she was knocked to the
turf backward by a Lakeland player. She initially got up holder her
back, but it turns out she had a more serious injury. When she fell
back she did her best to brace herself, and landed hard on her right
wrist. Although the trainer thought it was just a sprain, we found
out the next day that it was more than that - she suffered a
fracture. Due to the swelling at the time of the doctor appointment
it is uncertain what kind of cast or how long she will be out, but
it is a devastating, disappointing injury for her nonetheless. |
