The final game of the regular season for the '05 Lapeer
Storm team got off to a quick start, as they opened up the scoring
less than two minutes into the contest. After playing each other
just two nights earlier, these two teams were ready for a close
contest, and after the Jets answered with a goal of their own
minutes later it was looking like that is what they were going to
provide. It seemed as though the game was going to head into
intermission tied, but a late goal gave the Jets a 2-1 lead heading
into the second period.
That late goal must have gotten under the skin of the Storm
players, as they came out firing on all cylinders in the second.
They found the back of the net early in the period to knot the score
at 2 apiece, and then never let up. Drew broke the tie with a goal 5
minutes in, and then they added three more to break the game wide
open. The five goals in a single period marked a season high, and
gave them plenty of momentum heading into the third.
The Storm players were determined to not ease up, and they
continued to attack the net. The scored two more goals before
finally giving up one on a power play with 4 minutes left. After
struggling to find the back of the net all season, they weren't
stopping now. With the score 8-3, they tacked on two more to close
out the scoring and secure a 10-3 victory. Way to go Storm!
