The Storm players and coaches knew that they needed a victory in
this game to have any hope of making it to the championship game
tomorrow, and with that knowledge they were determined to play
strong early in the game. Unfortunately for them, the Patriots team
got on the scoreboard first, sneaking one past the Storm goalie
halfway through the period.
A second Patriots goal a couple minutes later resulted in a two goal
deficit for the Storm team. Undeterred, they kept attacking, eventually scoring a
goal to narrow the gap to 2-1. That was pretty much it for
positives for the Storm however, as the Patriots scored with less
than a minute left to take a 3-1 lead into the second period. Momentum stayed
on the side of the Patriots for this period as well, as they kept
finding the back of the net while thwarting any efforts the Storm
players put forth. When this period ended, the Storm team trailed by
a 6-1 score. Thankfully there wasn't as much action in the third, as
the only goal of the period came off of a Patriots stick, giving
them a 7-1 lead that carried through until the end of the game.
