This morning's game marked the opener for Drew and his
State Farm team in the Broncho Basketball league. Thanks in large
part to the school calendar, the team hasn't had many practices, and
when they do not all of the players are able to make it. Drew
himself has conflicts on both of the nights that the team has
practice scheduled and is only able to make half of those, and has
only made one practice so far.
With all that in mind, the season got off to a bit of a slow
start for our team in maroon. Though they scored the first basket of
the game to take a 2-0 lead, they struggled in a lot of aspects of
the game. A lack of rebounding really hurt the team, not only in the
first half, but the entirety of the game. Drew scored a single
basket in the half, and his team trailed by a score of 11-8 at
halftime. Things got worse in the second half, as second chance
points really hurt the State Farm team. A late surge made the score
look a little closer, but as the game ended it was the opposition
that came out on top by a score of 27-16.
Drew did end up with two points on that first half basket, and he
had two rebounds and two blocks to complete his stat line.
