Tonight is the Quad-town Tournament Championship game, which
sees Holly facing off against Hartland. With the exception of the
first inning, Drew played left field throughout the game. His first
at bat was an amazing foul ball which travelled all the way to a
storage shed on the field - probably 200 feet from home plate. He
finally straightened it out, but he had to settle for a base hit.
The runner on base tried coming home, but was tagged out for the
last out of the inning. Holly was down 3-2 at the end of the first
inning. Hartland scored twice in the second inning, but Holly
managed to tie the game at 5 with minimal action on the field. Holly
got some stellar pitching in the third inning and quickly shut
Hartland down. When it was Holly's turn to hit they managed to make
their way through the entire lineup, with Drew striking out in his
turn. Holly was leading 11-5 entering the fourth inning, once again
shutting down Hartland while in the field. Drew stepped back into
the batters box once again in the bottom of the inning, drawing a
walk. He was thrown out as he attempted to steal second base. Holly
shut down down Hartland once again in the top of the fifth, and
scored two runs themselves in the bottom of the inning. It was at
that point that the umpire called the game due to the mercy rule, as
Holly has jumped out to an 8 run lead. That made the final score
13-5 in favor of the Holly boys, giving them a big WIN and the
Quadtown Tournament Championship! Way to go Holly! |
