While Drew's teammates are primarily at the younger end of the
age spectrum for this level of baseball, it was obvious based on the
skill and size of this Grand Blanc team that they were the more
experienced team today The experience factor was evident right from
the start, as the Grand Blanc team racked up 4 runs in their half of
the first inning. Drew came up third in the bottom of the first, and
he hit the ball, but unfortunately it was a fielders choice as they
threw the runner out at first. Drew wound up reaching second base on
an overthrow, but that was as far as he got. Each team scored a
single run in the second inning, but the third inning followed the
pattern of the first, as Grand Blanc plated 4 runs while Holly was
kept off the board. Grand Blanc scored a single run in the fourth,
but Holly wasn't able to answer. Drew struck out in only his second
at-bat of the game, swinging at low pitches that were called strikes
all night long.
The two teams played the fifth inning, but it wasn't much to
write home about, as neither team was able to score. That would be
it for the night, as the 9 run lead invoked the mercy rule after 5
innings. Lets hope things go better when Holly returns to the field
next Tuesday... |
