Playoff Game 1

Drew's baseball team returned to the field tonight to face off against the Holly Green in the playoffs. The two teams split their regular season matchups, with the Green team taking the first contest while the Grey got the "W" in the most recent matchup. Despite the regular season split, the Green team had a better overall record, giving them home field advantage in this game. That gave Holly Grey the initial at-bat, but they weren't able to take advantage of it in the first inning. Thankfully their defense was ready today as well, as they too kept the Green team scoreless. Drew led off the second inning with a single, and was driven to second by a teammates hit. A steal of third and home gave the Grey team the early 1-0 lead. They would add on two more runs thanks to a clutch 2-out hit, ending the top of the second with a 3-0 lead. More stellar "D" kept that lead going into the third. After failing to score in the top of the inning, a couple of defensive miscues cost the Grey team a run in the bottom of the inning, making it a 3-1 game. The Grey team came back with a run of their own in the fourth, after Drew took a walk before stealing second base. A hit drove him home and gave them a 4-1 lead. Again, defense ruled the day as the Green team was unable to take advantage of the runners they put on base, and neither team could eke out a run in the fifth inning. Holly Grey got back on the board with a run in the 6th before going back in to the field for defense, looking for the final three outs. Holly Grey got the first two outs, but an error cost them a run, making it a 5-2 game. They were able to get the final out before any more damage was done, and Holly Grey is moving on to the second round! Go Grey!
