Today's game was a rematch from yesterday, as the two teams
travelled to Troy to do battle once again. Unfortunately, the
FireCats didn't appear to be awake yet, and found themselves down
two goals in the first three minutes. Once they settled in a bit,
they began to look like they belonged. They kept attacking, and
finally found themselves on the scoreboard with just under 3:30 to
play, bringing the score to 2-1 as the period came to an end. The
second period was a back and forth affair, but neither side was able
to generate any puck luck, until once again the FireCats struck with
just under 3:30 remaining in the period, knotting the score at two
goals apiece.
The Sting regained their lead about a third of the way though the
final period, and opened it back up to two goals after Drew got
called for boarding, earning a two minute penalty plus a 10 minute
misconduct penalty for the hit. The call seemed questionable, as
Drew seems to get calls any time a smaller kid goes down near him.
Perhaps the penalty was warranted, but not the extra 10. Needless to
say, the FireCats did their best to overcome the call, and scored
with just under five to play to make it a 4-3 game. They did
everything that they could to earn a tie before time expired, but
alas it wasn't meant to be... |
