For the second day in a row Drew and his Novi FireCats teammates
took the ice for a preseason scrimmage. This time they would be
hosting the Livingston Lightning. In the previous game Novi opened
the scoring less than a minute into the game. Although it took
longer tonight, once again the FireCats got on the scoreboard first.
A goal five minutes into the contest was the only scoring of the
period. The two teams battled back and forth for half of the
second period before the FireCats added to their lead, opening up a
2-0 lead. A Livingston power play goal a minute later narrowed the
gap to a single goal, while a goal with 1:05 on the clock tied
things up at two goals apiece. After surrendering their lead, the
FireCats didn't want to end the period on a down note. They attacked
after the faceoff, and answered back with a goal of their own 8
seconds later, taking a 3-2 lead into the final period.
The third period didn't get off to a good start for the FireCats,
as they surrendered three straight Livingston goals in the first six
minutes. This gave them a 5-3 lead, and it seamed as though the
FireCats were done. Thankfully they hadn't given up, and they
finally got an answering goal with five minutes left to narrow the
deficit to a single goal. It took a while, but the Novi team kept at
it and got the game-tying goal with just under two minutes
remaining. Neither team could score again, and the game ended in a
5-5 tie. |
