Game 2

This morning the Novi FireCats faced off against the PPH Prospects, a team made up of AAA hockey players from Canada. Thankfully the kids were unaware of the oppositions skill level, because they came away with the lead after the first period by scoring two goals as time wound down, while only giving up one to the PPH team. Four minutes into the second period, the FireCats score another goal, creating a two goal lead that everyone was hoping would hold up for the win. Shortly thereafter, the PPH team scored another goal narrowing the lead to one. The FireCats didn't give up, scoring a second goal this period, this time with 4:30 left in the second. The FireCats have 4-2 lead, but allow a goal late in the period - with 28.9 seconds on the clock – to narrow the margin to 4-3. Our guys appeared a bit tired heading into the third period, but they weren’t going to give up. This exhaustion allowed a fourth goal by the PPH team, shortly into the third period. The FireCats reacted quickly and scored another goal to break the tie. Unfortunately, that was followed up with a goal off the FireCats goalie’s facemask, brining the game to a 5-5 score. We certainly weren’t willing to lose the game, so they fought a bit more and managed to squeak in another goal with 7 minutes left in the third period. With a 6-5 lead, the gave up one last goal, evening the score at 6-6, which held until the end of the third. Overall a well played game against some of the top Canadian 06 players.
