This evening the Holly girls traveled to Hartland to play
against the Heartland 2 team. There was speculation that the umpire
wasn’t a regular Quadtown umpire, and that she wasn’t overly
familiar with the rules. This appeared to be the case at various
points throughout the game. After failing to score a run in the top
of the first inning, Jayden started the bottom of the inning playing
3rd base. Today's starting pitcher has certainly shown improvement
over the course of the season, as shown by today's effort in which
the Holly girls only gave up single run. Entering the second inning,
Jay went to the plate swinging, but couldn’t land a base hit. It was
during the third inning that the umpire's mistakes really came to
the front, as she managed to miss the pitch count, cheating a few
batters of some pitches. In the fourth inning, Jay didn't step foot
in the field nor get to the plate. When it was all over, the girls
walked away with a 4-1 victory, remaining the lone undefeated team
this season. |
