Today marked the beginning of the 2018-2019 season for the
Florida Jr. Everblades. Drew and his new teammates faced off against
the Glacier Sharpshooters White team in Pompano Beach. It took a
while for them to warm up, but once they got going the
Everblades opened the scoring with a goal with just under 6
minutes remaining in the opening period. They would quickly add another
goal a little over 2 minutes later, giving them a 2-0 lead that they would be
able to hold until the end of the period. The second period was a
slow one for the Everblades. They were unable to take advantage of
the period's only power-play opportunity. As time wound off the
clock - literally with 1 second left - the Sharpshooters scored a
goal, narrowing the gap to 2-1 in favor of the Everblades.
The third period was a lot like the second, with the Everblades
getting the only power-play opportunity once again, this time with
just under 2 and a half minutes remaining. Unfortunately for the
Everblades, it was the Sharpshooters who took advantage, scoring a
short-handed goal just 10 seconds into the penalty. That would tie
things up at 2-2, and that would be the final score when the buzzer
sounded on the third period. |
