Today's matchups mark the end of the 2018 regular season games
for Drew and his Florida Jr. Everblades teammates. The first of
today's two contests is against the Sharpshooters White on the
Everblades home ice at Germain Arena. The Everblades came out on
fire this morning, scoring first just 90 seconds in to take the
early 1-0 lead. They came right back a minute later to widen their
lead to 2-0 on a wraparound goal. The Sharpshooters would close the
game just 2 minutes later, making it a 2-1 game with 10 minutes to
go in the first. Things slowed way down at that point, even as the
Everblades would go on to outshoot the Sharpshooters by a 9-3 margin
in the period while maintaining the 2-1 score.
The Everblades would be the only team to score in the second
period, as they were able to bank one in off of the Sharpshooters
goalie late to reclaim their 2 goal lead, making it a 3-1 score.
That score would stand until intermission.
The two teams would play pretty evenly in the third period, as
the shots on goal neared even, with the Everblades having a 7-5
edge. It was the Sharpshooters who were able to convert on one of
theirs, however, as they would score early on to make it a one goal
game once again, this time at 3-2. Thankfully that would be it, as
the Everblades would keep them off the scoreboard for the rest of
the game, sealing their first victory of the season. Way to go
