Drew took to the ice with his HoneyBaked teammates in their
first road game of the season, travelling to take on the KV
Renegades. The game didn't get off to a good start for the
HoneyBaked team, as the Renegades scored just over a minute into the
action. Things settled down after that, as the two teams each got
some good scoring chances throughout the rest of the period.
Unfortunately for the fans of the road team, it was the Renegades
who added a late goal, giving themselves a 2-0 lead as the first
period came to a close. It took a little bit, but the HoneyBaked
team got on the scoreboard first in the second period, narrowing
their deficit to 2-1. The good vibes didn't last long however, as
the Renegades answered back a short time later to regain their two
goal margin. Once again the two teams each got some good scoring
chances, but the defenses and goaltending stood tall. With less than
two minutes remaining before the close of the period, the Renegades
broke through once more, widening their lead even further. Their 4-1
lead would hold until the end of the period.
The third period got off to a good start for the HoneyBaked team,
as a scramble in front of the net led to a goal just over a minute
in. A couple of untimely penalties slowed their momentum, but they
were the next team to score as well, on a shot with just under four
minutes remaining. At this point, it was a 1 goal game and the
HoneyBaked players were on a roll. They pulled their goaltender to
gain a man advantage, but the empty net looked big to the Renegades,
who tacked on one last goal to seal the game and hand the HoneyBaked
players a 5-3 loss. |
