5th-6th Place Game

After going 1-2 in the tournament, Drew and his HoneyBaked teammates played in the 5th-6th place game this morning, facing off against the Lakeland Falcons. This game didn't get off to the start that the HB team wanted, as they allowed a goal three minutes in on a pass through the crease that was tipped in by a Falcons player. That would be the lone goal of the first period, despite the best efforts of each team.

The second period didn't have the nice flow that you would like from a hockey game, as the two teams combined for six penalties (most of which were HoneyBaked). Because of the stop-start nature of the period, neither team was able to build much momentum. The second period ended with the same score as the first, with HoneyBaked trailing by a 1-0 score.

It took five minutes, but the HoneyBaked team was finally able to get on the scoreboard in the third period, knotting the game up at 1-1. With the trouble the two teams have had scoring, it seemed as though the game would end in a tie, but it wasn't meant to be. A bad angle shot with under seven minutes to play gave the Falcons the lead at 2-1. That score would be good enough to last until the final whistle blow, sealing the HoneyBaked team's fate as the 6th place team.
