District Game 2

Drew and the rest of the Novi FireCats took to their home ice to take on the KV Renegades. Based on Drew's past experiences playing against the KV teams, we expected a tough game tonight. Things got off to a good start for Drew and the FireCats, as he got the start tonight, and they scored the first goal of the game just 3:32 into the contest. Despite the FireCats getting some good looks during the remainder of the period, the first goal would wind up being the only goal scored. The FireCats would go into the first intermission with a 1 goal lead.

The second period got off to a fast start for the FireCats, scoring a power play goal just 16 seconds in to take a 2-0 lead. The FireCats team would score their second power play goal of the game at the midway point of the period to further widen their lead. The boys weren't done yet, scoring their fourth goal of the game with just 2.6 seconds left on the clock. The boys were flying high heading in to the final fifteen minutes.

The third period was a wild one, as the teams were skating up and down the ice, and taking advantage of all of the opportunities presented to them. The Renegades broke through for their first goal of the game 30 seconds into the period. It would take a while, but the FireCats would answer back with two goals on the same shift, scoring at the 10:59 mark and again with 10:30 left on the clock, grabbing a 6-1 lead. The Renegades would come back to score a goal of their own with a power play tally just past the 9 minute mark. Novi had an answer, though, as they would net their seventh goal at the midway point of the period. A couple minutes later the Renegades would come up with an answer of their own, scoring their second power play goal of the game to make it a 7-3 game. The game was winding down, and the FireCats were sure to come away with the victory. The Renegades never gave up, though, as they tallied the final goal of the game with just a tenth of a second on the clock, making the final score 7-4, with the FireCats on top. Way to go Novi!
