This morning's game marked the end of the season for the 06
Liverpool FC team, as tryouts are coming up next weekend. On top of
that, Jayden would be relocating following the end of the school
year. The girls have had a good spring so far, coming in to today's
rematch with the Michigan Lightning Blue with a record of 5-1-3.
These two teams played to a 3-3 draw yesterday, and the LFC girls
were hoping for a better outcome today. Unfortunately for the
Liverpool players and fans, the Lightning squad was the ones with
the quick start today. In fact, they would net the first two goals
of the game, grabbing an early 2-0 lead before Liverpool was able to
mount a comeback attempt. They finally were able to answer back with
a goal of their own midway through the half, but still trailed by a
2-1 score. Before the half was over, the Lightning team restored
their two goal lead with their third goal of the half, and would
take their 3-1 lead into the break.
The second half wasn't much better for the Liverpool girls. The
Lightning team widened their lead to 4-1 early in the half.
Liverpool would score their second goal of the game on a penalty
kick, but that would be it for them. The Lightning team would add
yet another goal as they cruised to a 5-2 victory. |
