| Drew and his Riverview Ice Sharks teammates took on the Plant
Panthers Black team in tonight's game. Things did not get off to a
great start for the Ice Sharks, despite getting the games first shot
on goal. The Plant Panthers squad scored on their first shot on net,
grabbing an early lead just 49 seconds in. Thankfully that would be
it for scoring in the first period, as the Ice Sharks goalie was
able to stop the rest of the 13 shots he faced. The Ice Sharks only
managed 5 more shots after the games first. The second period was
more even in terms of shots on goal, but it was the Plant Panthers
side that dominated the scoreboard. The Panthers scored four goals
on their first six shots of the period, all in a matter of the first
two minutes and 17 seconds of the period. Despite falling behind by
a 5-0 score, the Ice Sharks players didn't give up. They would
outshoot the Panthers 7-3 over the remainder of the second, but they
just couldn't manage to find the back of the net on any of them. The
two teams would head into the final intermission with the same 5-0
score that lasted most of the period.
It took a little longer than it did in the first two periods, but
the Plant team once again scored to open the period, once again on
their first shot. This goal came just over four minutes into the
period, making it a 6-0 game. Thanks to a delayed penalty call, the
Ice Sharks were able to pull their goalie and send an extra skater
onto the ice. The Riverview team was finally able to "break the ice"
and score their first goal of the game, thanks to a nice pass to the
front of the crease that the Ice Sharks forward was able to shoot up
and under the glove of the Plant goaltender. Finally a taste of
success for the good guys, making it a 6-1 game with just under
seven minutes to play. The Ice Sharks had some more looks at the
net, but they weren't able to score. The Panthers took control of
the play for majority of the rest of the game, scoring once more to
make it a 7-1 contest. That would end up being the final score,
handing the Ice Sharks yet another setback. |
