Jayden and her Florida Hawks teammates travelled to Lutz to take
on the FC Tampa Lady Rangers. Things did not get off to a good start
for the Hawks, as they would give up a goal relatively early in the
contest. A long pass ahead to a Rangers player led to the Hawks
keeper coming out to challenge for the ball. The only problem is
that she missed, which led to the Rangers getting an easy "layup"
goal to grab the lead. Not long after the first goal, the Hawks
would be called for a penalty in the box, leading to a penalty kick
that would be converted for a 2-0 lead. After the second goal I
was caught off guard by Jayden being inserted into just her second
game with the team. She played for nearly 20 minutes this half,
being subbed out just before halftime. Considering her lack of
playing time with the team in game conditions, I thought she played
reasonably well. She let the ball get past her on a couple of
occasions, but always to the outside along the sideline. She also
managed to take the ball away from the Rangers attackers on a couple
occasions, so all in all not too bad of a showing. Plus, the team
didn't give up any goals during her time on the field, and the half
came to a close with the score still 2-0.
Unfortunately she didn't get off the bench in the second half.
The Hawks had a prime opportunity to get themselves back in the game
before the first water break, though they would end up missing their
own chance for a penalty kick goal when the Rangers keeper made a
diving save. The two teams would trade scoring chances, but it
wasn't until late in the game that the Rangers would finally
convert. Unfortunately I missed the goal thanks to the side judge
standing in front of me, but no matter, the score was now 3-0 and
time was running out for the Hawks. That would indeed be the final
score, as the final whistle blew shortly after that last goal. |
