Jayden and her Florida Hawks teammates hosted the Cape Coral SC
Cyclones this afternoon. Jay didn't play with this team the last
time these two teams faced off, as she was playing with the U19 team
for this contest. She didn't play much today either, only getting on
the field late in the game for a few brief moments. The Cyclones
got on the scoreboard first, thanks to a nice pass through the box
that was easily tapped in past the Hawks keeper for a 1-0 lead. Both
teams got some good looks over the remainder of the first half, but
that would be it for scoring.
The second half was dominated by the Cyclones, as they would only
allow one Hawks shot on net (and a total of just three for the
entire 90 minute game). The Cyclones would score their second goal
of the game on a shot that deflected off the Hawks keeper, who was
playing out. The girls were visibly tired by this point, as the heat
was wearing them down and no substitutions had been made to this
point. The third Cyclones goal came on a long kick that sailed over
the head and outstretched arms of the Hawks keeper, making it a 3-0
game. Things got physical on the field at this point, with the Hawks
finally giving back some of the pushing that they had been taking
all game long, and neither side enjoyed the retaliation, especially
the Cape Coral parents, who became extremely vocal, yelling at the
ref, the girls on the field, and the Hawks parents on the sideline.
Thankfully the game would come to an end without anything major
happening. The Hawks would fall by the 3-0 score, dropping them to
0-2-5 on the season. |
