This afternoon's game marked the end of the Gasparilla Cup for
Jayden and her Florida Hawks teammates. It was a cold and rainy
game, and after losses in their previous two games, the girls didn't
quite seem to be as into this game as the others. It didn't help
that the team was down several players due to injuries and absences
due to the late addition of the team to the tournament. Regardless,
the girls weren't about to give up. The Hawks actually controlled
the ball for the majority of the first half, only allowing a single
shot on goal by the TBU team. Despite controlling the play, the
Hawks were unable to find the back of the net even a single time.
Jayden played defense this half, and did her best to keep the TBU
team from scoring as well. The half ended with the two teams knotted
up at 0-0.
The second half was nearly a repeat of the first, with the Hawks
holding the edge in shots over the TBU squad. Jay was moved to
midfield this half, and did her best to help her team score, but
like the first half neither side was able to do so. When the final
whistle blew, the score remained 0-0. |
