Preseason Game 1

Today's preseason contest saw the Riverview Lady Sharks taking on the Armwood Hawks at Bloomingdale High School. Jayden started tonight's match on the bench, and watched as her team controlled possession of the ball for the majority of the time, though neither team managed a shot on goal. Jay checked into the game after the water break, playing midfield for the first time in her soccer career. Although she wasn't overly familiar with the position, she made some plays that showed she could fill the spot when needed. She spent a brief moment of the opening half on defense. The half came to an end with the score knotted at 0-0, and only two shots on goal for either team.

The second half was similar to the first, with Jay on the bench and Riverview controlling play. Unfortunately they weren't able to take advantage of their possession time, and it would remain 0-0 heading to the second water break. Jay returned to the field at midfield at that point, and had a couple of nice runs and a couple of shots on goal (as well as a shot attempt or two that sailed wide, and therefore didn't count as a shot on goal). Jay even had an opportunity to nail the game winning goal with just 0:15 left on the clock, but the Hawks keeper came up big and made the stop, causing the game to finish in a 0-0 draw. Jay was pretty upset with herself for not converting that goal, but I've seen more experienced scorers come up short in those same situations, so she had no reason to be down on herself.

		...but the keeper managed to just deflect the ball away, securing the draw in the process.
