Grandma Terry and Uncle Steven came to pick up Jayden and I for
a day at Disney's Hollywood Studios. We arrived at the park around
10:30am and made our way inside. We had to make a quick stop at
Guest Services at the front of the park to make sure that Jay was
added to Steve's Disability Access Service (DAS) pass since she was
away at camp the last time we used it. We made a reservation for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
and headed off to find something to do while we waited for our
return time. As we wandered through the park we found ourselves
near the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt
Spectacular! show, and although it had already began we managed
to get a seat at the back. We ended up missing the boulder scene at
the beginning, but we got to see the rest of the action.
We headed off to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge next, and found
ourselves disappointed that we missed out on the Droid Parts popcorn
bucket that inspired our trip. While we were in the marketplace, we
stopped by Ronto Roasters to try a snack that Grandma Terry and I
have discussed trying in the past, the Kyryll Pork Rinds, which are
pork rinds seasoned in a blend of ancho chile, cheddar, smoke, and
cinnamon. While we both enjoyed the overall taste of the snack, we
felt that the pork rinds themselves were actually stale (which is
the second pork rind related snack that I've had a Disney that was
stale). I ended up bringing the leftovers home so that Aunt Erica
could try them as well, but unfortunately Baloo found them in the
backpack when I set it down and although there was a couple left, I
didn't trust that they hadn't been licked yet, so in the trash they
went. After trying out our snack, we headed back to get in line for
the Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
ride that we had reserved earlier in the day. As always, this ride
is a truly enjoyable experience for all of us.
After our ride had concluded, we headed to Echo Lake for our
dinner reservation at the 50's Prime Time Café.
Jay and I ordered the Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken (though Jay
went with macaroni and cheese instead of mashed potatoes). Grandma
Terry went with Mom's Old-fashioned Pot Roast while Uncle Steve had
Cousin Megan's Traditional Meatloaf. We also ordered dessert, trying
out the Grasshopper Bar, which is mint white chocolate mousse with
chocolate chips on a chocolate chip cookie topped with whip cream
and chocolate chips.
Unfortunately, it had started raining while
we were enjoying our lunch. Add in the fact that my stomach was
bothering me and that Grandma Terry hadn't slept well the night
before, we just decided to go ahead and call it a day. We made the
walk to the front of the park through the shops to stay dry, then
made our way to the car for the drive home. Not really how we wanted
to end the day, but it was an enjoyable time in the park either way! |
