Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo teammates travelled all the way to
Fort Myers today to take on the Lee County Strikers on their home
field. Jay started at forward today, on the outside. The Dynamo
controlled the ball for the opening few moments, but then play
tilted to the Strikers end of the field. They were granted a corner
kick early on, and the Dynamo keeper came out to challenge for the
ball, but ended up missing, and the ball ended up in the back of the
net, giving Lee County the early lead. On their very next shot, they
would widen the lead to 2-0 after a pass through the middle of the
field. The Tampa keeper came out to challenge, but had second
thoughts and backed off. Unfortunately the Strikers player found the
back of the net for the goal. That two goal advantage would hold
until halftime. Play evened out more in the second half, with both
teams getting some shots on goal. It was Lee County that got on the
board once again when the Tampa keeper came out to challenge. The
two players met at the ball, but it was the Strikers player who won
possession, and found an easy path and shot on goal ahead of her.
That made it a 3-0 game. With only a short time left in the game,
the Strikers complete a long pass up the middle. Most of the Dynamo
players thought the play was offsides, but the refs did not, so play
carried on, with an easy 1v1 against the Dynamo keeper. The
resulting shot found the back of the net, making it a 4-0 game, a
score that stood until the final whistle blew.
Overall, not a terrible effort by the Dynamo girls. A few things
to clean up and the outcome may end up different! |
