Jayden and her Tampa Dynamo teammates hosted the Cape Coral
Soccer Cyclone today in their first home game of the season. Things
got off to a slow start for the Dynamo girls, as Cape Coral
dominated the action early, and ultimately for the vast majority of
the opening half. The Cyclone would score on their second shot of
the game, as they made a pass from near the sideline to the front of
the net, which resulted in a short shot that found the back of the
net, putting the Dynamo girls in a 1-0 hole. Cape Coral would have
the only four shots on goal prior to the first water break, which
ended up being over an hour long due to a lightning delay as well.
Once play resumed after the long break, the Cyclone picked up where
they left off, dominating the action. The Tampa side didn't get
their first shot on goal until late in the half, and it was a good
one. There was a long pass through the center of the field, and
Jayden was racing after it. The Cyclone keeper was also coming out
after the ball, but she was slow to pick it up. Jay managed to take
it away from her, leaving a wide open field and net in front of her.
She took the kick and nailed it, right in the center of the goal for
her teams first of the season, making it a 1-1 contest. Jay was
definitely pumped to score today, as she enjoyed her celebration
afterwards. The 1-1 score would hold until halftime.
With the second half underway, play continued in the Cape Coral
end. The Dynamo couldn't generate any consistent offense, and the
Cyclone kept pouring it on. They would score again, this time as
they outraced the Tampa defense. It looked like the Dynamo keeper
was in good position to make the play, playing the angle well.
Unfortunately the kick was made to the wide side of the net, moving
the score to 2-1 in favor of the Cyclone. They would widen the score
further with a goal in between the second half water breaks, this
time on a long pass and shot that went right past the Dynamo keeper.
That made it a 3-1 game. Shortly before the final whistle Cape Coral
would make it a 4-1 game on a long shot that was up high into the
net, out of the reach of the Dynamo keeper. That would be it for
scoring, as the loss would drop the Tampa Dynamo girls to 0-2 on the
season. Better luck next time ladies! |
