There wasn't a lot that went right for Jayden and her Tampa
Dynamo teammates during this afternoon's contest against Plant City
FC.
The first half was dominated by Plant City, with the Dynamo squad
not getting a single shot on net. The first Plant City goal came on
a corner kick, when the ball wasn't cleared from the box, and was
eventually kicked in from close distance. The second goal of the
half came on a pass to a wide open player, where minimal effort was
made to make the save. The third and final goal of the opening half
came on a play that I thought was extremely close to being offside,
but since no call was made the goal stood. The pass was made ahead
to a player that drove past the chasing defenders and shot over the
Dynamo keeper. The opening half came to an end with the score 3-0 in
favor of Plant City.
The second half was more of the same, with Plant City dominating
in their end of the field. They would score their fourth goal of the
game on a penalty kick, thanks to a trip in the box, that gave them
a 4-0 lead. A short time later, Plant City would score again, this
time following a collision between the forward and the Dynamo
goalkeeper that resulted in the ball rolling into the back of the
net. The Tampa squad finally got their first shot on goal, coming on
a penalty kick of their own thanks to a handball in the box.
Unfortunately, the shot was unsuccessful, keeping them blanked on
the scoreboard and down five goals. Plant City would add two more
goals in quick fashion, the first coming on a cross that was kicked
in for an easy goal and the second on a drive that completely
crossed over the Dynamo defense. The eighth and final goal came
after it appeared that the defense had essentially given up, making
the outcome all but official. Thankfully the whistle did blow a
short time later, meaning the suffering was over. Next time,
