Sunday, March 10th, 2024

Jayden, Drew, Tara, and I woke up this morning to head over to Disney's Hollywood Studios to spend the day, and to meet up with Samantha in the afternoon.

We had made the earliest possible reservation to have lunch at the 50's Prime Time Café, with the hope that we could become the first family of the day, getting our picture taken with the staff and having it hung on the refrigerator for the entire day for all guests to see. Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we were beaten out by another family, and we were left to just enjoy our lunch. Jay, Drew, and I all opted to have Aunt Liz's Golden Fried Chicken, while Tara decided to get the Sustainable Verlasso Salmon. We all enjoyed our meals, and even though we weren't too terribly hungry after eating, we opted to try the Traditional Warm Apple Crisp for dessert. I didn't try it, but it was best described to me as tasting as if it was frozen and store bought , and it honestly looked that way as well. Our waitress today was great - she was giving us a hard time about being on our phones and for putting our elbows on the table. She was like I remembered from the visit that Tara and I took many, many years ago.

After lunch we headed over to Pixar Plaza to take advantage of some PhotoPass opportunities. We got to take pictures with James P. "Sully" Sullivan from Monsters, Inc., as well as Mr. and Mrs. Incredible, Edna Mode, and Frozone from The Incredibles.

Since we were in Pixar mode, we headed over to Toy Story Mania! to do our best in our favorite arcade-style game. Of course Drew beat us all!

After leaving Toy Story Land, we headed over to the Echo Lake area to take in the For The First Time In Forever: A "Frozen" Sing Along Celebration show. I always enjoy the reaction from the little kids in the audience (ours aren't so little anymore!), and it is a good chance to cool down for a bit.

We headed to the shops along Hollywood Boulevard as Samantha was nearing her arrival to the park to join us for the remainder of the day. Once Sam met up with us, we decided to find her something to eat for lunch. We headed down towards the Sunset Ranch Market at the end of Sunset Boulevard near The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Sam ended up getting the chicken breast nuggets from Rosie's All-American Café, while we went snack/dessert crazy - from Fairfax Faire we sampled the Belle Cup of Enchantment (which is cranberry and passion fruit-orange-guava juices topped with yellow shimmer and strawberry boba pearls) and an Enchanted Rose (a dark chocolate mousse with a taste of blackcurrant and morello cherry-chocolate shortbread cookie, whipped cookies 'n cream fluff, and gilded chocolate-covered cacao nibs). We also tried out the Minnie Kitchen Sink Sundae (which came with your choice of hand-scooped ice cream topped with red vanilla whipped cream, chocolate syrup, white 'Polka Dot' sprinkles, cookie Ears, and a chocolate bow) from Hollywood Scoops. Now we have a match to our Mickey Kitchen Sink at home!

After overeating, we headed over to the Star Wars Launch Bay for the character met and greets with BB-8, Darth Vader, and Chewbacca, while Sam also picked up a souvenir set of pressed pennies for her Star Wars collection. After taking our pictures and wandering around the park for a bit trying to decide what to do next, we decided to stop at Woody's Lunch Box, where we tried the Lemon-Blueberry Lunch Box Tart (which is a lemon filling in a stuffed pastry topped with blueberry frosting), and the kids washed that down with a Frozen Mystic Portal Punch (Mountain Berry Blast POWERADE with flavors of lemon-lime and tangerine).

From Toy Story Land we made our way over to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. We took some photos in front of the Millennium Falcon before heading into the line for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. We certainly didn't set any records on this ride, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. We wandered through some of the shops in Galaxy's Edge before transitioning over to Grand Avenue. We found the new Ice Cold Hydraulics, and decided to try out their Bouncin' Mini Churros (which are savory churros topped with Coca-Cola and bourbon candied bacon, Sriracha aioli, and scallions), before finding a seat at the Backlot Express to have a seat and enjoy our latest snack.

We next headed over to the Echo Lake area to take in the Star Tours - The Adventures Continue ride. We can't wait to experience some of the new adventures being added soon!

It was getting late, but we weren't done yet... we headed down Hollywood Boulevard to take in the Fantasmic! show. You can read all about that on page two of the pictures!
