05/21 - Magic Kingdom / Epcot

Home Up

Wednesday, May 21st, 2025

Tyler and Rose, as well as Drew, were in town for Jayden's upcoming graduation ceremony. Grandma Terry offered to get them tickets to spend the day with them at Walt Disney World. Of course the kids were excited, so he headed off to spend the day at Disney's Magic Kingdom.

We arrived at the Transportation and Ticket Center and took the ferry boat over to the Magic Kingdom. It wasn't super early when we arrived, so there was a bit of hunger in all of us. We headed off to the Spring Roll Snack Cart in Adventureland so that Tyler and Rose could try one of my favorites, the pizza spring rolls. We also got an order of the cheeseburger rolls so that they could try them.

From there we headed across the park to Tomorrowland to get in line for TRON Lightcycle / Run while the wait wasn't too long. Tyler and Rose had never ridden this one, and this was a great opportunity for them to do so. They really enjoyed the ride, though like all of us wish it was a little bit longer.

We then hiked back across the park, this time to Frontierland. Our first stop was at the Country Bear Musical Jamboree, which the kids had not seen since it was redone with the new songs. Although they are definitely more into the thrill-type rides, they thought that this was a cute show and enjoyed their experience, which was boosted further by the cast member at the door at sang along to each song, pantomiming the motions of the characters on stage as he did so.

While in Frontierland we also took in another first for the kids, this time going for a ride on Tiana's Bayou Adventure. We knew going in that we were going to get soaked on this ride, and of course we did. That didn't stop us from enjoying it though. While I admit that I am not as enamored with the songs as much as the ones from the prior version of this ride, I do enjoy the scenery.

At this point we decided that it would be fun to go to Epcot to check out the offerings there, so we made our way through the Emporium shops along Main Street, U.S.A. as we made our way to towards the exit. We found our way to the monorail, from which we made our next stop, which you can see in the next section of photos below...

While at Disney's Magic Kingdom, I was able to collect a few photos from the Photopass service have photos share - from TRON Lightcycle / Run as well as outside of and on the Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride.  Enjoy!

We made a stop at Disney's Contemporary Resort before arriving at the Transportation and Ticket Center. We wanted to recreate a few photos that we have done in the past...

After leaving the Transportation and Ticket Center, we headed off to Epcot. Unfortunately for us, and something I never thought to check, the park closed at 5:30pm today for a ticketed evening event. This didn't leave us time to explore the World Showcase, where we were hoping to explore some of the offerings during the Flower & Garden Festival.

With the early park closure looming, we had to prioritize what we wanted to accomplish. We first opted for the Living with the Land boat ride, since it was something that Rose would seem to like. It was a nice break from the sun at a minimum, and everybody did enjoy the ride.

Grandma Terry and I also wanted to pick up our new Annual PassHolder magnets, this time the recently released Maleficent magnet. Thankfully the line wasn't too long, and the kids were able to browse around the Creations shop.

With the new magnets in hand, we headed over to World Discovery to join the line for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Like so many other rides today, this was a first for both Tyler and Rose. They both are into the entire Marvel series of movies, so I was really glad we could get them on it (which we weren't sure about given the early park closure). We ended up getting September by Earth, Wind, and Fire as our song, and we all ended up having so much fun.

Sadly, that was it for the day, as the park was closing. In reality, I think we were getting a bit worn out anyway, so we decided to call it a day. We did make one last stop on our way home, at Texas Roadhouse for dinner.

A big thank you to Tyler, Rose, and Drew for joining me, along with Grandma Terry for buying the tickets to make it possible. It was truly a great way to spend the day with you all!
