Grandma Terry and I decided that a little break away from the real world would do us a bit of good, so we made a last minute trip to Walt Disney World to spend some time at Epcot. We didn't really end up doing much, aside from sampling some of the foods from the International Food & Wine Festival and going for a relaxing ride on Living with the Land. We attempted to ride Soarin' Around the World, but the ride went down while we were in line and we didn't feel like waiting it out.

As for the food we sampled, we started out in Canada, trying the Filet Mignon (with mushrooms and mashed potatoes featuring Boursin garlic and fine herbs cheese) and the Cheddar and Bacon Soup (which is served with a pretzel roll). Although our first dish of the day, the filet was by far my favorite. Excellent flavors and tender. I skipped the mushrooms, but the mashed potatoes were quite tasty as well. Grandma Terry wasn't too into the soup, but I wanted to give it a shot, so we did. I actually quite enjoyed it as well, and the pretzel roll was good with our without dipping into the soup!

Our next stop was in Belgium. We chose another steak option, this time the Beer-Braised Beef, with smoked gouda mashed potatoes. This was a decent option, but in comparison to the filet from Canada, it couldn't hold up. The potatoes here were also good, but again bested by the Canadians.

We continued our trek around the World Showcase, and though there were several items we wanted to taste, we knew we'd have to pace ourselves. We saved room for two items from Italy - the Bacetti 'Kisses' di Pizza, Traditional Napoli Street Food (pizza dough, pepperoni, mozzarella, and tomato sauce) and the Tortellini alla Vodka (four-cheese tortellini, vodka sauce, parmesan, and Calabrian chili oil). Of the two, I would order the Bacetti 'Kisses' di Pizza again. It wasn't amazing in the traditional sense, but it was a tasty dish in it's own right. As for the tortellini, well frankly it tasted pretty much just like any other tortellini I have ever tasted, including the frozen stuff from the grocery store. Not horrible, but not something I would go back for seconds for.

Our final stop for the day in the park was at the Mexico pavilion. Grandma Terry got a drink - the Strawberry-Pomegranate Margarita, which is 100% agave Blanco tequila, Joven Mezcal, pomegranate liqueur, strawberry puree, and spicy agave. Per usual, Grandma Terry thought it was strong. Her ultimate rating on the drink was "its ok".

That was it for the day, as we were both tired from not much sleep. We headed home after a nice relaxing day enjoying the park.

The custodial staff swept up some of the leaves into a really cute Minnie Mouse outline!
