| I had decided that today would be a good day to make a my first
trip to Walt Disney World for 2026, this one a solo trip as Grandma
Terry was scheduled to work. She was able to get the day off,
however, so plans were adjusted to go with her and Uncle Steven. We
selected the Magic Kingdom as that seems to be one that Steve enjoys
(though I don't think it matters at all what park he is in, he
doesn't remember any of it any more). We took a leisurely approach
to the morning, resulting in a late arrival to the park. On our way
over we booked a lunch reservation at Tony's Town Square Restaurant
on Main Street, U.S.A. We only had a little bit of time between our
arrival and our reservation, so we did a bit of window shopping
along Main Street before returning to the town square.
We were seated in the glass atrium-style area of Tony's Town
Square Restaurant, which was a bright and airy place to dine. For
our antipasta we selected the Tony's Garlic Bread For The Table
(which is toasted ciabatta with roasted garlic butter and parmesan
fonduta) as well as the Fried Mozzarella (which came with a spicy
creamy tomato sauce). The bread was very tasty, though not unlike we
often make at home. The fried mozzarella sticks had good flavor, and
they were huge - I think close to a foot long and with a decent
diameter to boot. I would order both again given the chance. For
dinner, Grandma Terry and Steve shared the Rigatoni alla Vodka
(rigatoni tossed in a classic tomato-vodka sauce topped with
citrus-herb breadcrumbs) and I opted for the Fettuccine Alfredo (a
typical fettuccine in a parmesan cream sauce). Both serving sizes
were rather large, especially following our appetizers, so we had
plenty. I wasn't a huge fan of the rigatoni meal, though both
Grandma and Steve enjoyed it. The alfredo was actually quite good,
and there was enough to share a portion with Grandma Terry and still
have some left over that I couldn't eat.
After dinner we headed off to Fantasyland to enjoy a ride we
don't visit much, the Under the Sea - Journey of The Little
Mermaid. While definitely geared towards the younger members of
the family, it is still a fun ride to take in, especially so on a
warm day to escape the heat - though that certainly wasn't an issue
today!
We headed across the park to Frontierland next, this time to take
Steve to the Country Bear Musical Jamboree show, as we
figured it was something he would get a kick out of. As always, the
show was enjoyable, though I would have preferred not to sit in the
front row (that is the wheelchair row, which is a bummer).
Because of our late start, it was already getting later in the
day after only two rides/shows. Add in the crowd due to the marathon
weekend, and we decided we didn't want to fight the lines for
everything. We had promised Steve the chance to see Mickey Mouse
today, so we headed back to the town square, this time to Meet
Mickey at Town Square Theater. We had a brief wait, got several
photos with Mickey, and then made our way to the car for the drive
home! |
